Technology leader thanks to innovations
With its sights set on the future, SENER continues to devote significant investment effort to R&D, in order to keep providing solutions that make it possible to generate power in a more efficient, clean, safe, and economic way.
From the outset, SENER has been aware that the key factor in its competitiveness lies in the ability to repeatedly provide technologies that will enhance the energy efficiency, performance, or quality of the products obtained in energy processes, at the same time as continually reducing the cost. Its aim has always been to be at the forefront of technology in the engineering fields in which it is active.
This aim requires perseverance in researching and developing its own processes and significant investments in demonstration programs, both before and after start-up where SENER remains part of the operation, as the information obtained from running the plants themselves is an exceptionally valuable source of new ideas for improvement and optimization.
SENER’s R&D activities in Renewables, Power, Oil & Gas include everything from waste reuse processes and thermodynamic cycles associated with natural gas recondensers to cryogenic storage tanks, floating storage and regasification units (FSRU) and demonstrators for tritium extraction in the field of nuclear energy.
Consequently SENER has an advantage through being a singular engineering firm capable of working in diverse disciplines, enabling it to incorporate technologies, ideas, and innovations from one technological area to another.
For example, just in solar power, SENER has become a technology leader thanks to its innovations and patented solutions, such as its molten salt heat storage system, its high temperature salt receiver, its SENERtrough® parabolic trough plantsand its SENSOL IT program. These innovations have made SENER plants the most efficient in the world and have provided it with a significant portfolio of contracts.
