Pilar combined cycle plant, Córdoba, Argentina.

The SENER-Electroingeniería consortium has built, the EPC, LSTK contract, of the Bicentenario 500 Mw combined cycle plant project in Pilar (Argentina), for the Córdoba’s provincial energy company (EPEC).

The new plant has been installed next to an old steam-cycle power plant and represents a significant contribution to the interconnected power system of Argentina as a whole and Córdoba in particular, due to the fact that together with the power plant, a high-voltage power line was built along with two transformer substations in the provincial capital.

SENER was responsible jointly with Partner for execution and management in the full scope: design, construction, off shore purchasing; management of planning, quality, cost control and commissioning of the power plant.

The construction of this project represents a giant milestone for SENER in Argentina and Latin America, since it was one of the fi rst EPC contracts in the region that involved creating a team of technical professionals in Argentina with the capacity to oversee this type of construction.

  • 500 MW combined cycle plant, including two Siemens gas turbines (501F), a Franco Tosi steam turbine and a Foster Wheeler surface condenser.
  • Power island equipment: SIEMENS SGT6- 5000F, FRANCO TOSI STEAM TURBINE, HRSG CERREY.
